I have often wondered what in our lives is free will and what is destiny. This question has become even more prevalent over the past few months, until just recently I had an epiphany and the answer seemed to come together like a jigsaw puzzle, finally I had all of the pieces and they seem to fit…(for now, anyway).
Robert Scheinfeld author of Busting Loose from the Money Game explains that during our lifetime we live either in phase one or phase two.
Phase One
During phase one we are “asleep” and we feel victimized. Things just seem to happen to us. We believe that all of the power is outside of us and that our happiness and survival depends on what occurs in our outer experience.
In phase one everything is destiny, meaning that it was already preplanned. We created our life before we incarnated, we created a blueprint of sorts. This blueprint defines every major event that takes place, every loss, illness, accident, child, relationship, wedding, divorce etc.
As we move through phase one we can begin to consider that perhaps we do have some power; enter the “power of positive thinking”, “the law of attraction”, and “free will/free choice”. At this point we may begin to believe that we do have free will/free choice, which we always do but what we don’t realize is what we have that will and choice over.
Because we live in phase one feeling as though we are powerless victims our ego (also known as fear) likes the idea of the law of attraction and creating our own lives. The ego enjoys the thought that now we can prevent all “bad” experiences and create only “good” ones. Free will/free choice is a welcomed theory to the ego, because it gives the ego power. And there’s nothing better than the sense power for the ego. But we soon find that even if we use the same process of manifestation over and over we will more than likely get different results. Over time and with many “failures” the ego begins to beat us up about our inability to truly create what we want. And for many the search for the perfect process begins.
In phase one we are moving and making decisions based on ego/fear most of the time and we imagine God to be an all powerful deity outside of us doling out punishment and rewards. So even if we are claim our reality as creators we are creating from a sense of limitation and fear.
Phase Two
During phase two we are waking up more and more mean that we are becoming more conscious of our spiritual essence or self. We begin to desire peace over material possessions. We even begin to understand more fully what is meant by “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God”. In phase two we are understanding that free will/free choice is a power trip for the ego. We also understand that the only free will/free choice is our choice between choosing Love/God or ego/fear. We begin to realize that our life plan has been created and there are so many things we can’t control but the one thing we can control is our response to outside stimulus.
Further into phase two we realize that the struggle of trying to create what we wanted was ego/fear based and that what matters is what our Soul/Higher Self desires for us. This is easier than before because we’re beginning to know that decisions we have made by way the ego/fear have been limiting and often painful. During this phase we become more open to surrendering our needs and desires to our Higher Self/God because we realize that being in the physical is like playing the giant chess game in Harry Potter. When you are the same size as the game pieces standing on the chess board your perspective is not great. What you can see and know are very limited, which is our perspective of our physical life and circumstances. However when you are above the board looking down you can see where every piece sits and where every available space is. This is the perspective of our Higher Self/Holy Ghost or God, which is who we are.
We can learn to gradually relinquish our illusion of control in phase two to our Higher Self knowing that it has a better perspective and much more knowledge about everything. When we do this then our Higher Self can and will communicate to us through inspiration and ideas how to bring about what we desire.
In phase two we can see the wisdom in surrendering our desires to our higher self and trusting that all is taken care of. Free will becomes our free choice to surrender all of our desires to God, to seek ye first the Kingdom of God, knowing that our destiny has been written by us and we need do nothing but be in a space of Divine Love and trust. This is where true peace and enlightenment lie.
Moving from phase one to phase two
To make this shift you must first realize that how youperceive what is going on around you is a compilation of your past experiences, beliefs and fears. To be in a space of Divine Love you will need to be free of fear. I have found emotional freedom technique and hypnosis to be very powerful modalities in releasing fear and embracing Divine Love.
Divine Love is our natural state therefore to be in that state one must only release the negative emotions that hide it.
