I don’t know anyone who didn’t love the Harry Potter series and now the Twilight series is a huge hit too. Adults and children alike love the stories because it brings magic and wonder back into our lives. We were much more apt to live limitless lives as children but as we grow up we are faced with “real life” and quickly our lives become a string of days doing what we have to do to make a living and to keep everyone else happy.
Where’s the magic?
You can put the magic back into your life. It’s easier than you may think.
- 1. Shift your expectations: When you wake in the morning the first few seconds are spent remembering who you are, where you are, what day it is and what needs to be done that day or week. Once you remember these things the next thing you do is make a judgment about all of the information. For example, you may remember that today is Monday and you hate Mondays. With this thought you have decided that today will be like every other Monday. That expectation doesn’t leave any room for magic. You have already decided what today holds. Instead make a decision to allow room for the unexpected. You can replace the mental statement of “I hate Mondays” to “Thank you God for this magical day filled with joyful miracles”. Every day really is a new day. This is the only Monday, September 28, 2009 you will ever have and if it is looking like last Monday then switch it up.
- 2. Plan your day: Many people think that setting intentions for your day begins in the morning but it actually begins the night before. Before retiring to bed of an evening use whatever process works for you to shed the stresses of the day (I use emotional freedom technique and meditation). Once you have released the residue of your day decide how you will wake in the morning. I tell my subconscious mind that I will wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, inspired and excited for my new day. This is simple subconscious reprogramming.
- 3. Make today a special occasion: Drink from a wine glass and light a candle at every meal. Every day that we are alive is a special occasion. Celebrate it in small ways. Taking a little extra time to honor every drink with a nice glass and acknowledging the presence of God with a lighted candle are simple ways to remember our unlimited divinity.
- 4. Bring a little magic to someone else: Give a kind word, a hug, or a smile to a “stranger”. We are all ONE. Personal connection is a healing balm for your soul and theirs. And who knows what could come of this new connection, maybe a great new friend or a business associate or even a partner.
And most important:
- 5. Begin and end your day with God: Many people begin and end their day with either TV news, internet news or the newspaper. Stop. The media is constantly telling us what we can expect. Our expectations create our experiences and hinder magical possibilities. Instead quiet your mind and bask in the Light of God. Allow yourself to be present in the Love that God is. Just by doing this your life will become much more magical and inspired.
